The history of the EPV label
The EPV label was created in 2005 by the French Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industry. EPV stands for “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” : Living Heritage Company. Its objective is clear: to recognize and promote French companies with outstanding craftsmanship and industrial know-how. But why was such a label created? The answer is simple.
In France, craftsmanship is much more than just an economic activity. It’s a living heritage, handed down from generation to generation. The EPV label is part of this commitment to preserving and promoting this heritage.
This label is intended for companies dedicated to craftsmanship and rare know-how, and for factories that preserve ancestral manufacturing techniques… while cultivating creativity and innovation. It is part of a commitment to preserving trades that are often rare and precious, and sometimes threatened by industrialization and globalization.
A reference
Since its inception, the label has established itself as a benchmark in the world of craftsmanship.
It is the only government label awarded to a company for its entire activity, guaranteeing the excellence of its know-how. For a company, obtaining this label is not only an honor, but also recognition of its ability to maintain and pass on unique know-how. It is valid for 5 years.
Why is it so important?
The EPV label is more than just an honorary distinction. It is a real lever for label-holders. It gives them greater visibility and government recognition on the national and international scene. But what does this label actually do for companies like the Atelier Jean Perzel?
