French real estate agency Architecture de Collection is offering for sale a Parisian atelier in the Art Deco style. It was the Parisian home of the famous entrepreneur Helena Rubinstein, founder of the eponymous beauty brand.

Who was Helena Rubinstein ?

Born into a Polish Jewish family, Helena Rubinstein (1872-1965) was a visionary businesswoman and founder of an innovative cosmetics brand. Dubbed “the empress of beauty” by Jean Cocteau, she moved to Paris in 1912. She left her mark here, notably in the artistic circles of the inter-war years.
Her artist’s studio duplex is now for sale. It testifies to her taste for the arts, where her collections rubbed shoulders with modern furniture, sublimated by the delicate lighting of fixtures by Jean Perzel.

An Art Deco artist’s studio in the heart of Paris’s 14th arrondissement

As part of the bustling cultural ecosystem of Paris in the 1930s, Helena Rubinstein decided to settle in the Montparnasse district.
Nestled on the Left Bank of the Parisian capital, the building was constructed in 1932 by modern architect Bruno Elkouken. It was commissioned by Helena Rubinstein herself!
The building then housed apartments, artists’ studios and, until 1982, an avant-garde cinema: the Studio Raspail, listed as a Monument Historique. It’s a building with a rich artistic history.

The duplex in question, recently put up for sale, measures 92 m². It offers a unique immersion in the Montparnasse district, which Helena Rubinstein loved so much. She described it as being “at the heart of the city’s literary and artistic center“.

Spread over two levels and bathed in light, this artist’s studio features a harmonious fusion of 1920s ocean liner style and Art Deco.
Two styles that Jean Perzel masters to perfection.

So it’s no surprise to discover Jean Perzel lighting fixtures inside, luminous witnesses to this vibrant era.
At the heart of this atmosphere, for example, stands the lamp No.162, an iconic piece in our collection. It adds a distinctive and timeless touch to the bedroom.

An exceptional history and aesthetic for this unique artist’s studio… This duplex offers a rare opportunity! Own an authentic piece of Art Deco heritage in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, cradle of Jean Perzel’s timeless style.
